In Memoriam: Bill Tinsman

Solebury Township mourns the passing of William E. Tinsman of Lumberville. Bill was a former Township Supervisor, an open space advocate, active supporter of many environmental causes, and President and co-owner of the oldest continually-operated family-owned lumber yard in the United States.

Bill was a towering presence in Solebury. He was an active supporter of Bucks Audubon, the Delaware River Flooding Task Force, Bowman’s Hill, and President of the Paunacussing Watershed Association.

He was awarded the Distinguished Citizen of Solebury honor in 2019 by the Solebury Township Historical Society, joining the likes of Daniel Garber, Edward Redfield, William Lathrop, George Nakashima, and his parents—Sue and Bill Tinsman, Jr.

Our thoughts are with his wife Melody, son Will, his other family members, and the many, many friends and colleagues who loved and respected him.
