Winter Operations & Snow Removal Guidelines

Solebury Township utilizes a fleet of vehicles to maintain safe road conditions throughout the winter season. These vehicles are used for plowing, cleaning, and salting Township roads. In addition to Township resources, we partner with qualified contractors to assist with snow removal operations when necessary.

To help ensure the safety and efficiency of these efforts, residents are asked to follow these important guidelines:

  • Do not place snow in roadways: Shoveling, plowing, or blowing snow from your driveway or sidewalks into any Township roadway is strictly prohibited. This creates hazardous conditions for motorists and interferes with snow removal operations.
  • Time your cleanup appropriately: We recommend clearing your driveway and sidewalks only after Township crews have completed their final plowing pass on your street. To confirm, please contact our Public Works Department at (215) 297-5353.
  • Work with your contractors: If you hire a private snow removal contractor, please ensure they do not leave piles of snow in the roadway. All snow must be fully cleared from the street before they leave your property.
  • Keep fire hydrants accessible: If there is a fire hydrant near your home, consider clearing snow around it. This simple step helps emergency responders act quickly and efficiently in the event of a fire.

Your cooperation helps keep Solebury Township roads safe and accessible for everyone during winter weather events. Thank you for doing your part!

Snow Emergency Guidelines

During a declared Snow Emergency, all vehicles must be removed from Township roadways and parked off-street until the emergency has been officially lifted. Keeping roads clear allows snow removal crews to operate efficiently and helps ensure safe travel for emergency vehicles.

If you do not have sufficient space in your driveway, please make arrangements with neighbors or nearby properties for temporary parking. Community cooperation can make a significant difference during severe weather—consider offering assistance, such as helping to shovel a driveway or sidewalk, in exchange for the use of additional parking space.

Your cooperation during snow emergencies is essential to maintaining safe and accessible roadways for all residents.
