SOLEBURY AATR PROGRAM
Adopt-A-Township-Road Program Information and Resources
Solebury's Adopt-A-Township-Road (AATR) program reinforces Solebury Township’s beautification efforts by involving citizens across the Township in Pennsylvania’s anti-litter campaign. The program serves as an educational tool to bring awareness to roadside litter with the goal of providing clean, well-cared for roadways for residents, roadway users, and those visiting our community. This program allows groups and individuals to “adopt” portions or entire lengths of Township roads and become "caretakers" of said roads.
Quick Facts
- Adopting groups must sign an agreement with Solebury Township, and a Solebury Township Liability Release Form must be on file for each participant.
- Participants must be at least 12 years old. Groups with members between the ages of 12 and 17 must be supervised by adults 18 years of age (or older) in the ratio of one (1) adult per four (4) minors. Participants under the age of 18 must have the signature of a parent or guardian.
- Groups must agree to adopt, at minimum, a one-mile portion of township roadway. Solebury Township must agree that the road is suitable for adoption. State Roads do not qualify for this program.
- Groups must agree to pick up litter at least two (2) times per calendar year. The agreement runs for two years. It will renew automatically unless either party chooses to terminate it. All pick-up events must be scheduled through the Program Administrator.
- Safety is a top priority. Group leaders must use safety materials provided by Solebury Township and must conduct safety meetings with group members before each pick-up event.
- All participants must wear "hi-vis" safety vests and must post "Litter Crew Ahead" signs during scheduled pick-up periods. Safety vests, signs, traffic cones, and trash bags are provided by Solebury Township. Provided materials are to be returned to Solebury Township after each event.
- Solebury Township will post two (2) signs (one in each direction) naming the adopting group or individual on the adopted portion of the road.
Registration & Resources
Interested parties must review the Program Requirements and complete a Program Interest Form. Registration will not be complete until all required forms are submitted to the Program Administrator AND confirmation of final road-selection is received from the Program Administrator.
All participants of registered groups must attend a Safety Orientation prior to the group's first clean-up event. Safety orientation materials can be found here. Sessions are to be held over Zoom and scheduled through the Program Administrator.
