Grand Opening of River Road Trail

The Grand Opening and Ribbon Cutting Ceremony for the River Road section of the Solebury Township trail was held on Friday, Aug. 25, attended by residents and officials.

Supervisor Vice-Chair Helen Tai offered some remarks to the crowd on the importance of the River Road link between the existing Solebury trail and the Township’s two parks, Canal Park and Magill’s Hill Park, while thanking all those involved in the successful completion.

The project was primarily funded by $1.7 million in grants and created a vital connection between the Delaware & Leigh National Trail along the Canal and the existing segment of the Route 202 Cross-County Trail. It involved the installation of a shared use path and facilities along River Road that provided pedestrian, bicycle and ADA access.

Following the ribbon cutting by Supervisor Tai of the trail section connecting the two parks, state Sen. Chuck McIlhinney cut the ribbon at the River Road section, accompanied by state Rep. Scott Petri and U.S. Rep. Brian Fitzpatrick.
